There are many ways to ensure your gift to SWAP, ways which will accommodate your personal and financial circumstances now and in the future.

Known as planned gifts, the most common are charitable bequests in a Will. But did you know it is possible to make you gift in the form of publicly traded stocks, mutual funds and life insurance policies?

There are many benefits to these methods of giving such as income and estate tax savings, a lifetime income for you and/or your spouse and the satisfaction of knowing you've made a difference in the lives of Canadian seniors in BC.

Will Bequests

A Will Bequest is a provision you make in your will that instructs the executor(s) to leave particular assets upon your death to a charitable organization. This can result in considerable tax benefits to your loved ones.

A charitable Will bequest can be cash, stocks or bonds, real estate or other tangible personal property. Your bequest can be for any amount you wish; simply arrange for your lawyer to include a bequest to The Seniors Well Aware Program in your Will.

There is no extra cost for this and it can greatly reduce your estate taxes. It's possible to change your will any time you wish. Your donation can be made in memory of anyone you would like to honour.

Securities and Mutual Funds

Some people  may wish to donate the gift of publicly traded securities to our organization.

These type of gift  is only taxed on half the gain and is a time limited opportunity to make a charitable donation.

In donating stocks or mutual funds directly to our agency, you can avoid half the tax incurred if you to sell them. You and your gift can be honoured in your lifetime. All your broker need do is to transfer the shares from your account to the Seniors Well Aware Program account.

Life Insurance

You may decide to name SWAP as a beneficiary of your life insurance.

Your generous donations help SWAP provide ongoing programs to our senior population. Thank you for your assistance.

For more information, feel free to contact our office. It is SWAP's recommendation that you consult with a professional when making decisions concerning a donation of any kind.
